Buzzards House welcomes well behaved dogs. There are Dog Rules and we need you to bring their beds, and towels to dry them off as Devon is a very muddy county…
However- The gardens, orchards and Buzzards Woods are a canine paradise.
We love walking our dogs around Buzzards, right on the doorstep and a joyous place for dogs. Ours love it. And it is easily accessible by going right on the lane by the house and its entrance is on the right hand side 200 meters up the lane.
Or- If you walk over garden bridge on past the swim spot, near the picnic tables, you can walk through the woods (signposted), out and left over Worthy Bridge and then up the road to Huntland Wood which joins back up to Buzzards.
Further afield:A longer walk takes us to the Fishermans Cott in Bickleigh, it takes about 1 and a half hours and we tend to leave a car there to bring us back, it’s a lovely walk, through Devon lanes and bridleways. And overlooks the River Exe, this is the perfect place for a refreshing pint overlooking the ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’ bridge.
Knighteshayes is great for gentle dog walks and then lunch in the Lost Kitchen- be sure to book. Killerton House and grounds too are lovely for dog romps.
The Canal is also a beautiful place to wander with the dog
Saunton Sands, is dear to our hearts and a special treat for dogs, it is one of the most glorious places to visit, totally unspoilt, staggeringly beautiful and utterly exhausting for even the most energetic of dogs, there are dunes, miles of beach and very few people. Great Fish and Chips.
There are also fabulous walks on Exmoor, Tarr Steps circular walk is wonderful with a pub either end Tarr Farm Inn or the The Royal Oak , we sometimes go to the Exmoor Forest Inn Exmoor Forest Inn delicious lunch with great walks all around.
